Hello All,
I'm the Candyman! As in, the guy who made this forum and is in charge of it. I figure since I'm in control of all that goes on around here, I might as well let you know a bit about myself. Since, after all, if you do something wrong I'll be the guy punishing you for it.
My name is Andrew Johnson, and at the time of this post I am 18 years old. My parents are missionaries in Central America, and I've spent the last 7-8 years of my life living there. I lived for a year in Costa Rica to learn the basics of Spanish, then I was in Honduras for 3.5 years, and I then was in El Salvador for around 3 years. As you can probably guess, I'm fluent in Spanish (for the most part).
I'm in North Carolina now, beginning my freshman year at NC State University in Raleigh. Right now I intend to be an English major, with an emphasis in Film Studies. I've always been in the habit of watching movies - I love 'em. So I figure I might as well do my best to get a job that has something to do with them. If it's not making them, I'll probably end up writing about them. As of now, I've only made one short film. I wrote, directed and edited a 13-minute short called Stuffed Fantasies which is available for download online. It's not great, but hey, I'm a beginner. I figure I'll improve with each film I make.
Living in a different culture (as well as visiting tons of online forums) has really given me a unique perspective on things. That's one of the reason I created this forum - I love hearing all sorts of ideas on all sorts of issues with all sorts of people. I really want to know your thoughts on...well, anything. So that's why I set up this place. A lot of the boards are dedicated to movies and filmmaking, but there are also plenty of social boards where you can feel free to talk about whatever you want.
Before I finish this post, I might as well shamelessly plug two other websites of mine. The first is a movie review site. I set up this site around 1.5-2 years ago, and it's where I post in-depth reviews and analyze various movies that I see. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of time to write really long reviews, so the site is rarely updated. There are only around a dozen reviews on there right now. Also, being an Angelfire site, it isn't really fancy. I'll be the first to admit that the layout is really plain and terrible. But hey, that's what you get for free. It's not much, but don't be surprised to find a few new reviews pop up every now and then. You can find it at: www.angelfire.com/film/arjcandyman
I also have a personal blog which I update regularly. If I see a movie, I'll often post a few sentences about it here if I don't have time to write a full-length review. I also post about what's going on in my life, my opinions on certain issues, and anything else I happen to be in the mood to write about. You can find it here: arjcandyman.blogspot.com
And that's all about me. If you have anything else you'd like to know about me, feel free to ask me a question on the Question and Queries board. I'll be more than happy to tell you anything you want to know (within reason). I hope you enjoy the forum.
Sincerely,
The Candyman
